The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs
Once upon a time, in a quaint little village, there lived a poor farmer and his wife. They struggled to make ends meet and often went to bed hungry.
One day, while tending to his farm, the farmer stumbled upon a goose with feathers as white as snow. To his amazement, the goose laid a golden egg!
Overjoyed, the farmer and his wife rushed home with the precious egg. They sold it for a handsome sum of money and soon found themselves living comfortably.
Every morning, the goose continued to lay a golden egg, and the farmer and his wife became wealthier with each passing day.
However, greed began to consume the farmer's thoughts. He wondered if the goose had more than one golden egg inside her.
Unable to resist the temptation, the farmer decided to cut the goose open to retrieve all the golden eggs at once. To his dismay, he found nothing but feathers and innards.
Regretting his foolishness, the farmer realized that his greed had cost him his greatest treasure. From that day on, he and his wife lived in poverty once again, longing for the golden eggs that would never come.
Moral of the story: Greed leads to loss, while contentment leads to riches.
